15 Bold Gaming Predictions For 2018

12. Assassin's Creed Skips 2018

Assassins Creed Origins
Ubisoft

The Prediction: The Assassin's Creed franchise won't release a mainline entry this year.

Why It Will Happen: After the buggy release of Assassin's Creed Unity torpedoed the series' reputation back in 2014, Assassin's Creed Syndicate's sales were below expectations the very next year, causing Ubisoft to bench the franchise for 2016 and re-evaluate the series for its next release, rumoured to be titled Assassin's Creed Dynasty.

As it turned out, last year's Assassin's Creed Origins wasn't just one of the series' best-reviewed entries, but scored double the sales of Syndicate in its first 10 days. So, if they can reap the same financial rewards with half the result, why go back to annual entries?

Why It Might Not: Corporate greed is corporate greed, and Ubisoft could very well assume that the series is now back on track and fans are once again craving a new Creed game every year.
