The Prediction: Treyarch's next entry into the Call of Duty franchise will be a sequel to 2008's World at War.

Why It Will Happen: Given how much people love trilogies, it doesn't seem probable that Treyarch will simply serve up Black Ops 4 next, and following up this year's Call of Duty: WW2 with another period war game instead seems like a pretty smart idea.

Fans have been asking for a second World at War game ever since the first one hit stores, so finally relenting a decade later seems pretty poetic, especially as Activision can bundle an HD remaster of the original game with it for the maximum possible price gouge.

Why It Might Not: Activision may have instructed Treyarch to work on a more contemporary CoD game in case WW2 ends up bombing commercially, ensuring the series isn't keeping all its eggs in one decades-old basket.

It can also be argued that the viability of the World at War brand simply isn't there considering how long has passed since its release, so Treyarch may end up coming up with something new altogether, even if it does end up spiritually resembling a WaW sequel.
