12. Portable Gaming
Portable gaming has been around for a long time. In the early days Nintendo and Sega were the kings of the handheld market with the Gameboy and Game Gear, dominating the competition. Years later Sony entered the market with the PSP, a handheld device so technologically sophisticated it was like carrying around an original Playstation. Yet despite being superior, Nintendo continued to dominate with the Nintendo DS. Now, despite releasing updated versions of both their platforms, both Sony and Nintendo find themselves dominated by a new platform: the cell phone. The advent of 4G phones has made portable gaming a powerhouse within the marketplace, giving owners access to hundreds of games of various genres and quality. And since everyone, even children, has their own phones, weve got an entire nation of people walking around with a portable video game device in their pocket, and that's just crazy when you really think about it. No matter where you go or where you are, gaming is only a pocket away.
