Even though Call of Duty took its crown as the top multiplayer shooter on console in the late 2000s, the Halo series has still been producing top-quality online experiences ever since, completely reinventing their competitive suite with every new release.

However with Halo 5, developers at 343 came as close as they ever have of nailing what the online Halo experience should be. Putting a renewed focus on large online battles with a multitude of vehicles and objectives, the matches in the latest entry in the legendary franchise can feel epic in a way Call of Duty never has.

Even though its reliance on purchasable incentives kind of messed with the balance here and there, the strength of the now four-player co-op campaign combined with the thrilling competitive suite means that Halo 5 still stands strong as perhaps the greatest multiplayer game you can buy for the Xbox One.
