15 Iconic Final Shots Of Beloved Video Game Characters

4. Kratos - God Of War 3

By the time God Of War III came about, Kratos had already killed his way across most of the mythical Greek gods, leaving only the big ones left to deal with and Zeus being his final target. No sweat then. When Kratos finally faces up to the king of the gods atop Mount Olympus. After harnessing the power of Pandora's box and forgiving himself for the death of his wife and child, Kratos finally gets his revenge and from a first person perspective the most brutal and bloody end for any character ever put into a videogame. As you tap the circle button, Kratos beats Zeus into a pulp, blood covering the screen and washing out your vision till there's nothing left but the broken body of his arch-nemesis. With that act, Kratos has ended the rule of the gods, near enough destroying the world in the process. In one final act, having nothing left to live for, Kratos plunges the Blade Of Olympus into his chest, unleashing the power held within him back to the world of men. It ends with him lying in a pool of his own blood, his vengeance complete and his journey over. Kratos was the poster boy for Sony's more adult end of its first party spectrum, and his tale of murder and revenge was one of the most violent that any first party developer has ever put out. The story hinges on Kratos dying at the end of the series, but the way he is left, no longer a god, just a mere mortal, bleeding out on the top of Mount Olympus has a wonderful contrast to his journey through the games. No longer all-powerful and strong, he is as weak and fragile as his wife and child were when they were murdered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiWZucottXw
