15 Iconic Final Shots Of Beloved Video Game Characters

3. The G-Man - Half Life 2

It's hard to describe a final shot of Gordon Freeman, as throughout two games and two add on packs, you never actually see him. It's even harder to pick an iconic scene from Half Life 2 to pick a character from - it's such a legendary game, and all of the scenes are iconic. However, the game's ending, just as you ascend the top of the City 17 citadel and ruin Dr Breen's plans by destroying his trans-dimensional portal and causing a catastrophic explosion that is liable to annihilate yourself and Alyx, time freezes and the mysterious G-Man fades into view. He praises you for your work in stopping Dr Breen and alludes to offers for your services to come in the future. The world fades to black and soon enough, all there is to see is the G-Man. "This is where I get off" he tells you as he turns to the side and a door opens, spilling white light into your view. As the G-Man disappears, your world fades to black as you await your next assignment. Such is the mystery of Half Life. Who is the G-Man? Why does he want your services? Why is he always on a tram of some sort? All you know is that choice is removed from you and sight of the G-Man walking from inky blackness to the light solidifies everything Half Life is about, mystery. In a story that is drip fed to you with little or no explanation of what is going on around you, once again you are left wanting more without knowing why. Such is the genius of Half Life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3qJ_E79AIQ
