15 Iconic Video Games That Almost Turned Out Completely Different

6. Bioshock Was A Plant-Themed Espionage Horror

Yes, far from the underwater utopia-gone-sour world of Rapture, the original version of Bioshock took place on land, seeing you in the shoes of one Carlos Cuello (a hilariously bad name in comparison to something like Booker DeWitt) as he struggled getting used to some bio-mechanical plantlike implants coursing through his body. The 'Big Daddys' of this world were called 'Man o Wars' and the whole thing centred around you infiltrating a cult-like agency on an island with the hopes of retrieving the daughter of a rich magnate who'd slipped in with the wrong crowd. You were essentially 'deprogramming' her indoctrination procedure over the course of the game assumedly through both dialogue and in-game mechanics, whilst also taking part in plenty of weapon crafting, environmental attacks and upgrades that would flesh out Cuello's roster of moves. In the end Bioshock's retail version only had the most threadbare of ties to this initial vision, but with Infinite opening up the possibilities for sequels in the future and Irrational Games disbanded, perhaps someone else can pick up this idea and run with it?
