5. The First Colossus (Shadow Of The Colossus)

Shadow Of The Colossus is the ideal game for those looking to down giant, hulking beasts made out of stone. After all, with no other enemies in the game besides the titular colossi, killing giants is a pretty essential feature. The First Colossus (also known as Valus) provides a memorable introduction to these misunderstood monstrosities; seeing it's giant feet come thundering into shot is breathtaking stuff. Valus' complete ignorance of the player is a great way to show the scale of these fights too - Wander is little more than an ant to it. The genius of these encounters is how the game blends action with platforming to make each Colossus a challenge. Valus is the simplest and least challenging battle (obviously) but it introduces many of the vital gameplay elements needed to down the tougher Colossi, like finding and attacking Sigils. Every instance of combat in Shadow Of The Colossus is awe-inspiring and Valus' introduction does a great job at highlighting the monumental task Wander and the player face on their journey.
