15 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Fallout
9. You Can't Damage Or Kill Kids In Fallout 3 Or New Vegas
Game developers often think sections of their fanbase can be a bit... sadistic at times. Look at how Rockstar built Trevor in GTA V and remember he was supposed to be a reflection of the player: crazy, destructive and pretty much psychotic. When it came to Fallout 3, Bethesda wanted the world to be as authentic as possible so they wanted to include children, like the ones at Little Lamplight who formed their own mungo (adult)-hating community. But if they let players murder kids, it'd cause all kinds of controversy, so they decided to make them the only characters that are invincible. You can attack them, but they won't damage or fight back, instead choosing to flee. Fallout 1 and 2 gave players the options to become a Child Killer while the modding community removed kids' eternal life in the latter games. There's apparently a demand for it, but god only knows why.
