15 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Fallout
10. The Original Fallout Wasn't Really The Original Fallout
Hold your horses a minute, there's a logic to this one: you'll remember the Fallout story began with the release of the original title back in 1997. But there's a twist. Ten years prior to that, Interplay Entertainment developed a game called Wasteland, which followed a group of soldiers investigating strange happenings in a post-apocalyptic world. The tone and setting acted as the main inspiration for the Fallout series, which Interplay would eventually find themselves working on. There are references to Wasteland peppered throughout the Fallout titles, including a recruitable character who has roots with Wasteland's Desert Rangers. But if there's one thing you'll be glad Interplay left behind? Wasteland was published by EA. Imagine it now - new and exclusive to Xbox One with plasma rifle DLC at the low price of £9.99!
