13. Darksiders 3

Despite not being very successful at launch, the Darksiders series has since gained a loyal cult following, with the second game in particular going down as one of the most underrated releases of the last generation.

As that title wrapped up the story of Death, the latest sequel is instead casting players as another Horseman of the Apocalypse, Fury. Taking place in parallel to the events of the previous titles, the third game is retaining the series' Zelda-inspired gameplay while tasking players with making their way through a war-torn version of Earth.

Casting the Seven Deadly Sins as the sequel's main antagonists, Darksiders' biggest strength - its superb level design - will no doubt shine even more thanks to themed puzzles and missions surrounding each mythical villain.

The marketing admittedly needs to be ramped up before release if the devs don't want it to go the same way as the other games, but with the cult following the series has gained and the hunger fans currently have for the genre, this third game could be the big break the franchise deserves.
