15 Most Hilariously Written Video Games Of All Time

6. Brutal Legend

Choice Quote: "Decapitatiooooonnnn!!" - Eddie Riggs, powersliding on his knees after taking down a huge beast. One of the most recent titles from Double Fine studios, Brutal Legend saw him employ the talents of Tenacious D's Jack Black to bring to life the character of Eddie Riggs, a roadie for a terrible pop-metal act who inadvertently ends up being transported into a world where old school 80's heavy metal artwork and stereotypes have come to life. With appearances from Ozzy Osbourne as your item and weapon vendor plus Judas Priest's Rob Halford as a faction leader, it's the Psychonauts-esque animation that makes everything pop. Sadly the game was advertised early on as more of a hack n' slasher in the vein of something like God of War, but as you got through the story it gradually turned into a really strange Real-Time Strategy hybrid, making you move troops around the battlefield whilst also running in to take hundreds of them on Dynasty Warriors style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGM65vif45A Like all Schafer's games it found a cult following, but even if you were put off by the way the game handled its later levels, the opening cutscene and first level - where you banish demons literally with the power of rocking out as Black Sabbath plays behind you - is the sort of thing only developers like Double Fine can perfectly bring to life.
