15 Most Infuriating Video Game Boss Battles Of The 2000s

2. Jinpachi - Tekken 5

As I mentioned in the Street Fighter post, it's become a trait for fighting games to include screen-filling enemies - the purpose being to immediately make you recoil in fear and switch-up your tactics to win. Street Fighter IV's Seth was one thing, but at least the frequency of his most annoying attacks didn't come too often. The same can't be said about Jinpachi, who as a demon-infested resurrection of Heihachi's father - had to show the world he meant business. Most of his attacks were lumbering and easily avoidable, but Namco gave him two abilities you can still hear them cackling about to this day. Firstly a very fast-deploying fireball that'll sap a full life bar down to around a tenth of what it was - or kill you outright if you were mid-animation - and second, a near-instant stun attack that could interrupt anything, leaving your character standing there as Jinlachi... well, blasted your shins off with another fireball. Throw in some invincibility frames that meant he'd go ahead with his attacks regardless of anything, and you had a boss that essentially turned this into 'Side-Stepping: The Video Game'.
