14. Lazarevic - Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
All across Uncharted 2's runtime you were heaping praiseworthy phrase after praiseworthy phrase its way - but nothing shattered the "This is a flawless masterpiece" label than coming up against an army of supernatural blue-skinned warriors, before then having a terribly awkward run n' gun fight against the token villain, Lazarevic. Pegged as an evil, muahaha'ing evildoer from the get-go, we didn't get any sort of motive for what Lazarevic wanted other than mass power, taking over the world or... something. By the close of Among Thieves it was revealed there was a supernatural ooze bursting from the confines of hidden temple Shambhala - something that you then had to dart around a small map, blasting in the hopes the splash damage would take down the angry Russian along with it. It was anticlimactic, badly thought-out and just felt unnatural to play. Forcing Drake's run n' gun tactics into a tiny area only highlighted how limiting a stop n' pop cover system truly is once you close the distance - a realisation that you then had to wrestle with as Lazarevic battered you senseless every few seconds.
