15 Most Legendary Maps In Halo History
6. Spire – Halo: Reach
Invasion mode does not get enough credit from Halo Reach. The game type was essentially in three parts. Spartan vs Elites, each with their own unique abilities, such as evade or armor lock.
Capture one of two hill points within a certain amount of time to advanced to the next stage. Complete that stage to get to capturing the core, normally deep in the heart of the enemy's base and take it to the drop zone, in a similar vein to One Flag CTF. The core however was much heavier than a flag, with a Spartan (or Elite) requiring two hands to walk with it at a slow pace.
Spire had a giant base several floors up containing the core, normally requiring the central gravity lifts to access the room, although Banshees and Falcons were on the map as well. Some iconic moments include flying the core by surfing on top of a Banshee or Falcon to the drop zone, as normally a player will die from the height of dropping from the base to the floor (although there was a sweet spot where you could slide off and merely bounce off the base instead if you were lucky).
