15 Most Terrifying Moments In Non-Horror Video Games

3. Shalebridge Cradle - Thief: Deadly Shadows

Usually, in stealth games, you're the predator, but in Shalebridge Cradle it certainly didn't feel that way. That place was hunting you, physically and mentally.

Shalebridge Cradle, a building made from a combination of two cliche horror settings: an orphanage AND an insane asylum, supposedly existing at the same time. The place is conscious, alive and malevolent, feeling like it's breathing down your neck. It may be cliche, but there's a reason they're overused because it's bloody unsettling.

A level where you're not actually thieving anything, in fact, you're there to free the soul of a young girl whilst avoiding the "Puppets", reanimated corpses of former inmates looking to mess you up real good. Fun times.
