15 Resident Evil Games - Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Resident Evil Remake

Resident evil
Capcom

"The remake of the original you just ranked?!"

Let's face it, all the remake did was make RE1 better. I'm sure a lot would agree it makes more sense to position them this way.

Regardless, the story is very much the same, however, gameplay-wise there's quite a significant difference.

Other than the obvious, future-proof graphical improvements, zombies don't stay as zombies. If one is not decapitated or incinerated they'll come back faster, stronger and renamed to the Crimson Head. Not only that, but defensive items were brought in, giving players a free escape from a zombie's grasp. A new boss-like enemy and its subplot were also added, in the form of Lisa Trevor.

It might come as a surprise to some people, but REmake disappointed in its sales, convincing Capcom to shift away from horror and focus more on action starting with RE4.

REmake was once described as the definite edition of a true classic and that's very much true and with the recent HD re-release of it, it's only that much better.
