15 Resurrected Video Game Franchises That Should Stay Dead

3. SimCity

The Originals: 1989's SimCity was the colossally successful city-building sim that created an empire, spawning several hit sequels, spin-offs and, of course, the gargantuan success that continues to be The Sims franchise, The Resurrection: Ignoring the ambitious failure that was SimCity Societies, 2013's SimCity reboot was the first proper game in the series since 2003's SimCity 4. Sadly, Maxis' insistence that the game be always-online resulted in connectivity issues for many players, and the game's smaller map was widely lambasted by fans. Over a year after release, Maxis finally release a patch allowing players to access the game offline...which is the one thing they wanted to do from day one... Why It Needs To Stay Dead: Maxis really crapped the bed with this one, and given that EA initially wouldn't even offer refunds to those upset with the game's horrible issues, it's safe to say that the franchise has really burned a lot of bridges with fans. Another game is inevitable, but don't expect it to enjoy stonking sales like previous titles. If EA and Maxis are involved, many gamers won''t be.
