15 Severely Underrated PS3 Games That Deserve A Second Chance

8. Vanquish

Mechs, Gundams and a futuristic world in which everything appears to be made of steel and iron. This description pretty much sums up the kind of niche audience that would instantly be attracted to Vanquish; the kind of people who love Transformers (not the movies), Robot Wars, and for whom the biggest event of 2016 will be the USA vs Japan robot showdown. But that shouldn't deter non-mech-fans from playing this high-adrenaline shooter. You control a DARPA agent in an augmented suit that's packed with boosters, which will have you sliding around levels like a gun-toting, mechanised figure skater. This and other abilities make the gunplay much more proactive and engaging than the cover-based shooting of Vanquish's contemporaries, and the whole game is endearingly cheesy too; an acknowledgement that no one plays macho shooters to listen to a platoon of vapid meatheads taking themselves so goddam seriously.
