15 Things We Learned At The PlayStation Experience 2016

It's happening.

The Last Of Us Part 2

Holy s***.

If Sony wanted people to take their now-annual PlayStation Experience event seriously, they pretty much just gave the mic drop to end all mic drops.

Stacked with as many shocking and crowd-pleasing announcements as any great E3 conference, the PSX keynote was a marvelous exercise in exploiting nostalgia and making good on their most successful current franchises.

Sure, we didn't get to see more of the Final Fantasy VII remake or finally get a damn Kingdom Hearts 3 date, but it's hard to be that disappointed given the slew of brilliant reveals that continuously came down the pike with only the most minimal of dead weight (looking at you, MLB: The Show 2017).

The "year of dreams" continues with even more tremendous wish fulfilment, proving that Sony continue to fend off the complacency that gave them such a tough time in the PS3 era. Buckle up, because it's a damn exciting time to be a gamer, and indeed, a PS4 owner.

Here are 15 things we learned at the PlayStation Experience 2016...

15. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy DLC Stars Chloe & Nadine

The Last Of Us Part 2
Naughty Dog

PSX opened with the reveal of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a standalone DLC expansion which will star Chloe and Nadine and take place at least partially in India.

This was an extremely clever reveal, because for much of the nine-minute demo, players probably thought the shrouded figure was in fact Lara Croft, given the influence the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise has obviously taken from Uncharted.

It's simply a joy to get more content from the Uncharted world, especially as this DLC takes place after Uncharted 4 and may provide additional context to the game's events without needing to drag Nathan Drake back out of the woodwork.

It will reportedly clock in longer than The Last of Us' Left Behind DLC (which ran just two or three hours), but naturally much shorter than Uncharted 4. Get hype.
