The Buzz: Insomniac Games are responsible for the acclaimed likes of Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet and Clank, Resistance and Sunset Overdrive, and now they're tackling their first licensed property with a standalone take on Spider-Man.

The little that's been shown off so far looks visually gorgeous, action-packed and incredibly slick. Web-slinging through New York City has never looked better, while Spidey's array of acrobatic combat options are fast-paced and intense, and there's even the ability to traverse the city using parkour maneuvers.

Insomniac are smartly using a modified version of Sunset Overdrive's engine, which should help make Spider-Man one of the most gleefully entertaining licensed games in recent memory.

Also, by not being tethered to the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the character, Insomniac will have much more freedom to simply focus on making a fun Spidey game. As long as it nails the currently unannounced villains, there's little to be worried about here.
