It's a truth universally acknowledged that we all wish we could command gods. Lucky for Prince Noctis, the rightful king of Lucis, he can do just that, by summoning deities known as astrals in the middle of combat- once he has been deemed worthy.

The downside to this ability is that the criteria for summoning most of them involve being in peril and close to death. If you're a competent gamer who rarely lets the health of the party drop to a minimum for more than a couple of seconds, the chances of these astrals coming to your aid is far lower than someone who constantly finds themselves on death's door.

The more badly you play, the higher the likelihood one of these celestial behemoths will come to your aid. Carbuncle will only ever appear when you're struggling on easy mode, for instance, while Titan is increasingly likely to appear the more party members are downed.

Indeed, many players may play for tens of hours without ever witnessing some of the gods' aid, whether it's Leviathan ascending from the depths of a lake with a tidal wave or Titan punching a giant rock tortoise in the face.

Which is a shame, because it's a real sight to see.

I'm perfectly sane, or so the voices tell me. British, sarcastic, president of the European Slinky Association, have a tendency to lie when listing things about myself. 100% guilty of being a massive geek obsessed with Doctor Who, Harry Potter and video games. If you can't find me on the internet, I'm probably locked in a room playing Spyro the Dragon on my old PlayStation, or blowing everything to smithereens with a concrete donkey on Worms: Armageddon.
