Let's face it everyone, Marcus Fenix was a bit of a crap character. Despite being voiced by the man behind Bender of Futurama fame, Marcus had no particular redeeming qualities other than you used him to chop things into little bits. He showed emotion rarely and was eclipsed constantly by his chum Dom who had much better storylines going on. Marcus was just...there. He was a character we inhabited, but never really got to know. Sure we met his daddy and stuff and killed countless Locust along the way, but Marcus' story all ended with a whimper rather than a bang. Yeah, Gears of War may never have really been about storyline, but Marcus' character really didn't help that along any. The supporting cast, particularly Cole, Baird and Dom, were much more interesting, less growly and had actual dynamics about them. Marcus, on the other hand, was just a big burly gentleman with a chainsaw gun and penchant for lingering behind chest-high walls that conveniently spawned wherever he did go.
