2018 will be the year of pirates, as not only is Ubisoft's new Skull & Bone pirate combat game dropping, but it'll also be the year that Rare finally - finally - deliver Sea of Thieves (probably).

Receiving its biggest gameplay demo to date at E3, we got to see that Sea of Thieves is actually one giant open-world game with dynamic multiplayer elements. We saw a small posse of pirates raid an island and plunder some treasure, only for another team of entirely different players to come sailing in, resulting in a furious battle between the two.

The entire tone of Sea of Thieves remains very animated and fun, the demo ending with a character loading themselves into a cannon to cross the ocean and take the fight to the opposition. Hopefully there's a meaningful experience for solo players too, but if you've got a regular squad of friends, this is a no-brainer.
