16 Insanely Underrated PS4 Exclusives You Must Play

4. Night In The Woods

Infinite Fall

Every month or so, one indie game will get 'the buzz'. Gone Home had it, This War of Mine too, Life is Strange, Undertale - even Rocket League, before it became bigger than the sun.

Night in the Woods is the latest uber-cool, narrative-focused experience you need to stick on your to-do list. Centred around teenage angst, homecoming and the fairly standard 'one humdrum village houses a deep, dark secret' framework, you'll play as one Mae, a returner to Possum Springs. She'll need to reforge friendships and make new ones as gameplay is predominantly a side-scrolling platformer, however Night in the Woods is far more about investing in its characterful and fright-filled story than any abject gameplay loop.

I'm being deliberately vague as this is best experienced after a friendly recommendation. If your gaming tastes can allow for anything inherently story-focussed like Gone Home, Oxenfree or The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, this will be right up your alley.
