16 Insanely Underrated PS4 Exclusives You Must Play

9. Galak-Z

Like the gameplay of Asteroids but would rather it was funnelled through 1982's Japanese take on Thunderbirds, Thunderbirds 2086?

Good, because Galak-Z is that, but even more fun. A deceptively hard twin-stick shooter with roguelike elements, you'll venture out into space to bring down aliens, explore, complete missions and finish acts of a story - all whilst attempting to bank enough currency to carry over when you inevitably die.

Gameplay-wise you've got access to a ship that can spit plasma rounds just as fast as buckets of missiles, is able to transform into a mech with a laser sword, and features a neat 'jump' that'll let you hop directly over incoming fire. It's with this set of mechanics that Galak-Z then throws all sorts of enemies and obstacles your way, meaning you'll either survive and take them out in a gorgeous display of pyrotechnics and anime explosions, or get wiped out, lick your wounds and start again.

Doing the latter until you're good enough to enact the former is the rub, but thankfully, Galak-Z's presentation is top notch.
