16 Laziest And Ill-Conceived Pokémon Ever

3. Swirlix - Gen VI

Since ice cream was such a big hit as a Pokémon, why not continue the sugary trend? Surely it could not get any more insane. Well it sort of does, and a cotton candy Pokémon is the answer to that question. But this time, not only does the Pokémon draw inspiration from a ridiculous source, it also looks just as lazy as the thought process that went behind creating it. Simply, Swirlix is nothing more than a puff of lines with a tongue. It is very easy to draw and imagine, which is probably why Vanillite was such a difficult Pokémon to pass to players. There is no imagination in the design. We will always get crazy and random sources for Pokémon but if the designers make no effort to create something that looks like a creature that might actually be found in the Pokémon's version of the wild and instead just throw crudely drawn eyes onto any object, of course it is going to look bad. As you will notice, Slurpuff was not included. Well, that is because Slurpuff did exactly what I was talking about, it actually looks like something that put the 'monster' (creature or animal, etc.) in Pocket Monster. It looks acceptable as something more than just a cloud with a brainless expression on its face. Swirlix was not a great idea to introduce after some of the abrasive reactions to Vanillite, simply because it made the idea of candy as a Pokémon much worse.
