Even the name shows how little this Pokémon branched out from the insanely familiar creature, the duck. Shape, height, nor facial features were distorted or redesigned to claim this Pokémon as original or exceptional. They took a stereotypical cartoon duck and just colored in blue. It doesn't look mean, serious, or edgyit doesn't even look funny. It's just...there. Much like Wingull, Ducklett is completely forgetful. Nothing about this Pokémon begs catching. Ducklett is the sort of Pokémon that has me worried as a fan not because ice cream cones are becoming sources for Pokémon but instead that game creators are not even trying to think of new ideas. The duck is not even an exotic creature or significant in any regard and Gen V made no attempt to liven up the animal when they brought it to the Pokémon world. It's just a duck. A plain duck that was colored blue. What a drag.
