16. Paris, Nice (The Train Level) - Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow
The definition of a replayable game if there ever was one; Splinter Cell's trial n' error gameplay of old could've been the death of it - if not for absolutely fantastic, at-the-time jaw-droppers like this. Flashback 11 years and the industry was just starting to flex its cinematic muscles, and for Microsoft's first sequel to one of the games that was slowly but surely garnering the Xbox a large following, they pulled out all the stops to blow people away. From darting in and out of carriages as the whole thing hurtled along at what felt like lightspeed to crawling underneath and just scraping by the tracks themselves, this easily went on to define the franchise, putting you square in the shoes of Sam Fisher as he undertook what felt like one hell of a step up for the way we experience action in games.
