17 Awesome 2014 Video Games You Might've Missed

1. Five Nights At Freddy's

What It's About: A demented point-and-click survival horror game in which the player is a graveyard shift security guard at a tacky pizzeria, using a series of security cameras to keep track of the malfunctioning robotic mascots as they traipse around the building. Why You Need To Play It: Because it's sure proof that indie horror can be as pant-wettingly terrifying as any AAA offering. There's an enormous amount of tension here wrung out of the desperate strategy needed to survive the five nights: the player must balance protecting themselves with conserving battery life, failure of which will result in a deeply unpleasant demise. It's over in about two hours but it's a superbly efficient two hours, boasting enough difficulty to keep players on the edge of their seats, but not infuriatingly so either. Plus, if you enjoyed it, there's already two sequels ready for the playing. Which under-the-radar games from 2014 are your favourite? Shout them out in the comments!
