17 Last-Gen Video Games That Will Be Viewed As Classics In Years To Come
2. Grand Theft Auto V
Where other open world games struggled to have a balance between things to do and aesthetics, Grand Theft Auto V delivered on both counts. Perhaps the most anticipated gaming event in years, the launch of GTA V saw millions of copies ship within days and brought gamers into one the most intricately designed, involving and rewarding gaming worlds ever created. Have you ever stopped to do nothing except wander around the world of San Andreas and look at the detail Rockstar poured into it? Other gaming worlds struggle to reach the same level of detail with open worlds, resulting in a city that's lifeless or without personality. San Andreas isn't like that; it's pedestrians are complex, crazy and daft just like the rest of us, it's world has hundreds of shops with their own unique design and every element of the countryside down to the ocean floor is planned, designed and crafted to perfection. It's three characters - a first for the series - also had their own personalities and quirks. Trevor in particular is very memorable for his erratic, deranged behaviour, while the missions where you had to use all three characters together to plan and attack locations for money remain some of the best open world gaming missions ever constructed. Juggernaut suits and miniguns? Genius.
