11. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! - Iwajira

How you get there: For a series that's notorious for cramming in as many secrets and easter eggs as is humanly possible for a video game to contain, there's really no surprise that it's home to a secret boss of epic proportions.

By hugging the most eastern wall in Serenity's Waste, you'll come across a tiny ledge that leads into the Pyroclast Grotto - also known as an active volcano. Once you reach the centre of the structure, Iwajira will burst out of the lava and start spitting its acidic gob all over you.

Why you need to beat them: This being a Boderlands game, there's only ever one reason to do anything in its cel-shaded worlds. Loot. Lots and lots of loot. If you're able to best the Godzilla-like monster with an arse for a face, you'll be rewarded with a burst of colour as weapons, shields, moonstones and everything else in between rains down over you in a shower of pure awesomeness.

You're not limited to just one kill either. You can go back and bust that deadly piñata open as many times as you want.
