It turns out that those extremely convincing "leaked" Super Smash Bros. for Switch screenshots were total fakes, because the much-awaited beat 'em up was nowhere to be seen during Nintendo's Spotlight or subsequent series of livestreams.

This no-show was particularly surprising as many fans simply expected Nintendo to port the Wii U version over to the Switch, as they've done with many other titles.

When Will We See It?: The lack of a port seems to imply that Nintendo is probably working on a brand new Smash Bros. game for the Switch, in which case it'll probably be announced in a Nintendo Direct sometime over the next year.

Then again, the Wii U didn't get a Smash Bros. game until two years into its life cycle, so fans could be waiting into late 2018 for a reveal.
