18 Action Video Games You Must Play Before You Die

2. Grand Theft Auto V

You must experience: A police-chase more epic than any movie. Somewhere on this list a GTA game just had to pop up, and although III is the one that rocked the boat so much it capsized and San Andreas created one of the most enjoyable time periods to romp around in - it's GTA V's most recent take on the formula that's the most perfected yet. No game rewards experimentation like GTA, and as the mission design has always existed to give you a series of goals to meet, the revised physics model that mashes everything together is as best as it gets. The reworked version of San Andreas is an immaculate machine of interlocking systems both physics-based and through A.I. scripting, and you need only give it a prod from any angle to see something incredible. Everything from enacting police chases and tearing off across the desert to nabbing a parachute before descending from atop Mount Chiliad is handled with the utmost care (thanks to billions of dollars financing the whole thing), and with the remastered version throwing in one of the best first-person modes in history, you owe it to yourself to experience GTA from the in-game eyeballs of a mass-murdering, plane-stealing psychopath.
