18 Brutal Gaming Challenges You Must Complete Before You Die

15. Completing A Dizzy Game

The 1980s and 90s was a completely different era of gaming to the one that we€™re used to now €“ one that was, generally speaking, a lot more difficult and a lot less forgiving. A perfect example of this kind of mindset is the Dizzy series of games, and in particular, Treasure Island Dizzy. One of the many puzzle-platforming series made at the time, the Dizzy games were famously demanding, since even brushing against anything remotely dangerous spelled the end for our little egg friend. Most of them gave you a few lives as an insurance policy, but Treasure Island Dizzy kicked it up a notch by only having one life before you were sent straight back to the beginning. Oh, and this was before save points were invented, so to see the end you had to get through it all in one sitting. Add to that the less-than-responsive controls, and you have the ingredients for a ridiculously difficult set of games, and one that caused anguish to thousands of children trying to play them. Good luck getting through them without cheating.
