Coming off the back of Andrzej Sapkowski's source material, expanding such a solid lore foundation into an expansive open-world of beast-slaying Witchers, townships in need of help, political parties vying for control and the heart of the story revolving around Geralt essentially rescuing his daughter - it makes for an unbeatable package. Even the DLC, Hearts of Stone, had more content and thought put into it than tons of other titles that get full-priced releases.

CD Projekt RED are a rare breed that double as publisher and developer, meaning they've nobody to answer to but themselves - and it shows. The Witcher 3 is outstanding.
