18 Most Iconic Signature Moves In Video Game History

6. Lara Croft's Swan Dive - Tomb Raider

Obviously the most go-to 'signature element' of Tomb Raider's history would be her over-sexualised physicality, but outside of that, CORE Design put together one hell of an enjoyable third-person action adventure across Lara's original run. Platforming was a pixel-perfect affair that rewarded you for learning precisely where to stand and how to execute Ms. Croft's various moves - hiding within it the occasional secret animation for those that experimented with the control scheme further. One such thing was an optional handstand you could do by holding multiple buttons when mantling up a ledge, and the other was this balletic swan dive - a great move that's been included all the way up to 2015's sublime Rise of the Tomb Raider. Writer's note: It's surprisingly hard finding good gifs of Lara's more graceful moments, so please enjoy this one of her face-planting the concrete instead.
