16. Finding, Fighting And Capturing Mewtwo In Cerulean Cave - Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow

Cast your mind back to your first Pokémon experience. For certain generations that will mean the unprecedented influx of 90s content, including one hell of a TV show, a cheesy-as-hell movie and of course, Pokémon Red and Blue - of which you could only purchase one, dammit. Nobody bought both. Nobody.

Anyway, battling your way through the various dungeons and expanses of land in search of various monsters to pit against each other remains one of the most unique and fun gameplay experiences you can ever have - but Mewtwo? He was another story. The antagonist of the feature film at the time and the prophesied 'most powerful Pokémon' nobody ever really talked about - this guy was the Voldemort of stories told around Kanto campfires for years.

As such, tracking him down near the close of the game by battling your way through the Cerulean Cave - and then realising you could tame and capture him - was a satisfying revelation like no other. Some of us still have our original Mewtwos tucked away on that very same cartridge to this day.
