19 Predictions For This Fall's MetaCritic Gaming Scores

10. Need For Speed

MetaCritic Score: 76 What To Expect: Two words: nothing revolutionary. What's been shown off of this franchise reboot so far looks strangely by-the-book, and with many critics already having their knives out for it as the game requires players to be permanently connected to the Internet in order to play, any long-standing connectivity issues could easily destroy this one's critical favour (just look at SimCity's shocking score of 64). It almost certainly won't end up as badly-regarded as 2011's dire and misguided Need for Speed: The Run (64-69), but with many already criticising the camera, handling and abundance of glitches in play-tests, and the fact it's trying to ape arguably one of the series' best games (Need for Speed: Underground 2), it may have to settle for simply being adequate. Still, it looks stunning visually (as all the games in the series do), and there's always the chance it could be a rare EA game to prove genuinely surprising. Still, at this point, it would take something seriously game-changing to elevate the series to new heights of critical acclaim. Release Date: November 3 (US), November 5 (EU)
