19. Hush, Little Baby - Dead Space 2

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lQNS1cBe7w For Dead Space 2 Visceral Games decided to double down on the gunplay and 'splosions at the expense of genuine terror, and this proved to be a somewhat disappointing turn of events for some horror fans as the original Dead Space was a masterclass in atmosphere and tone. Though that's not to say that the sequel was a disappointing followup by any means, as it's easily one of the best games of it's generation. Despite being a bit too light on the scares for most of it's runtime, Dead Space 2 contained some genuinely disturbing imagery, and the moment that's most likely seared into your eyeballs after rolling the credits - excluding Isaac's impromptu retina surgery - is the exploding Necromorph 'baby'. Upon entering the nursery station, Isaac approaches a window looking into a playroom and sees a woman who's lost any resemblance of sanity long ago. Sitting across from her is what appears to be a reanimated infant which crawls toward her, and after being swept up in her loving arms, the Necromorph explodes and splatters the room with the woman's brains (along with her intestines, and lunch). Adorable, isn't it?
