19 WTF Moments From Quantum Break

Poo saves the day. Seriously.

Quantum Break
Remedy Entertainment

After years of hype and anticipation, Quantum Break is finally out in the wild, but is it any good? Our own verdict says not so much, in spite of the game's alluring qualities.

What's clear is that, for better and for worse, Remedy's latest is a brain-scrambling mind-melter, a very strange collision of time travel tropes, TV-grade sci-fi bulls***, awesome gunplay and other gameplay elements that...aren't so awesome.

If nothing else, it's an intriguing game no matter its failures, one that sustains interest to the finish line even as it frustrates and straight-up alienates along the way. Whether it'll do well enough for a sequel remains to be seen, but if nothing else, you certainly won't soon forget the spiritual successor to both Max Payne and Alan Wake.

The good, the bad and the very, very weird: here are 19 WTF moments from Quantum Break...

19. Dominic Monaghan's Dodgy Accent

Quantum Break
Remedy

Lord of the Rings and Lost star Dominic Monaghan appears in a small supporting role as protagonist Jack Joyce's brother, Will, who gets killed in the opening collapse of time.

Though the majority of the game's actors do splendid jobs with the material they have (especially Aidan Gillen and Lance Reddick), Monaghan's painfully transparent attempt at an American accent is more distracting and hilarious than anything.

The English actor is thankfully kept to the periphery of the story for the most part, though his few scenes also happen to be pivotal moments that bookend the narrative, and so pull us out of what should be a barmy, escapist thrill-ride.
