20 Announced Video Games You Won't Play For YEARS
15. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3
Though Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 was only released in late 2024, Focus Entertainment and Saber Interactive wasted no time at all announcing that Space Marine 3 was in the works, formally confirming it in March 2025.
This came as a surprise to many considering the 13-year gap between the first two games, though as we've seen so many times before, an announcement has little bearing on the timeframe for a game's actual release.
Last November, Saber's creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick clarified that though Space Marine 3 was in development, it was still years away.
The team is currently prioritising development of DLC for Space Marine 2, but announced the sequel early so that fans were assured they wouldn't be waiting another 13 years for a third game.
Hollis-Leick added that Space Marine 3 was expected to have a development cycle of around four years - the same as its predecessor - and so we can realistically expect it to release around 2029.
