20 Awful Characters In Amazing Games
6. Aiden Pearce (Watch Dogs)
Watch Dogs is a series that deserves a lot of love, especially the first instalment. Its cool, sleek approach to hacking, atmospheric setting, and impressive open world still offer something fun to return to all these years later. Of course, the downside is that you have to put up with Aiden Pearce, a lead more bland than oatmeal served at room temperature.
The problem with Aiden genuinely comes down to a distinct lack of charisma. He has all the emotional complexity of a husk, with a stoic attitude that makes it seem like he barely cares about anything. He even shrugs off a major character death in a way that makes him come across like an unlikable sociopath.
It's clear what Ubisoft was going for with Aiden. He is supposed to be a suave antihero with a tough exterior. Unfortunately, in order to make a like that character work, you've got to give them at least a drop of personality. Without that, players have no reason to get invested.
Watch Dogs may be great, but Aiden definitely failed to hack his way into gamers' hearts.
