8. Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots
This entry into the long lasting Metal Gear franchise is a culmination of the twenty one years since the original game was released. Every mysterious question receives an answer and every loose end is neatly tied up. If youve played the other games this is essentially a reward for your dedication to the series. Solid Snake finally bids us farewell. It wont suit everyone its still a Metal Gear game. Expect plenty of cutscenes and a heavy focus on stealth. You can skip the dialogue if you want but youll be missing out on the story the best part of the game. The world is in chaos. War has broken out around the globe and private armies are selling their talents to the highest bidders. Liquid Ocelot has cemented himself as the leader of five of the companies and surrounds himself with highly trained super soldiers. Your mission: take him down. Both the combat and stealth systems have been spruced up. Snake can blend in with his surroundings and can learn how threatened certain enemies are. The AI is intelligent and the enemy, when alerted, will start searching and destroying any hiding places theres no pattern to their movements. Youll have to be both covert and brutal if you want to defeat them. The plot summarises the entire Solid Snake journey. It tackles real life issues the influence of technology in particular but feels natural doing so. Guns of the Patriots is arguably the best Metal Gear game ever.
