15. Borderlands 2

The original Borderlands took the traditional RPG elements and mixed them with an art styling directly from the comic book world. With the follow-up Gearbox didnt make vast changes to the already successful formula but added general improvements all round. You play as one of four vault dwellers whove come to Pandora to explore vaults; the only problem being that since the last one was opened the planet has come under the control of the Hyperion Corporation. Your mission: save the inhabitants, destroy the company and kill their leader: Handsome Jack. Pandora is a vast open world with loot to be found in every crevice. Loot is the greatest thing about playing the game. The map is crammed with mountains of guns and mods (weapon mods, class mods, rare mods etc.) that add the extra level of customisation that few games do. You are building your very own character and the hunt for precious loot becomes intoxicating. Throughout the game and the various missions and side quests youll be faced by numerous enemies each with their own ranks and advantages and you get to choose and work out how youre going to defeat them. Borderlands 2 preserved the best parts of the original the RPG elements, artistic style and direct sense of humour and added an all-round polish to create one of the funniest and most enjoyable RPG games of the current generation.
