20 Best Cutscenes In The Metal Gear Solid Franchise

16. Jumping From The George Washington Bridge - MGS2

This cutscene got the whole world talking in 2002. Acting as the introduction of the sequel to the blockbuster title, Metal Gear Solid, its drawn-out cinematography plays with its audience until the final seconds.

Slowly walking in the rain, smoking a cigarette, an unidentified character remains hidden under the veil of a raincoat. Is it the character we love so much, or is it someone else?

The character jumps from the bridge and flows through the air in Matrix-style grandiosity. As the raincoat flies off, the player is briefly shown a similar-looking sneaking suit, before they are hidden again by stealth camouflage. If that is Snake with stealth camo, then does that mean Meryl is dead?

After a heavy landing on board a ship, the stealth camouflage crackles out and the camera comes face to face with the hero of the previous game. Solid Snake is back!

Kojima and company began toying with the way the cutscenes were shot, and eventually, it became a little shallow. However, this cutscene remains one of the most memorable in the entire franchise and watching it again, it is easy to see why.
