20 Best Ever E3 Moments
1. The PS4's Game-Sharing Video Annihilates The Xbox One (2013)
There's simply no greater "shots fired!" moment in the history of E3 than Sony's hilariously, justifiably confident showing in 2013, where Microsoft effectively handed them the eighth generation on a silver platter, and they grabbed it with considerable relish.
Mere days before E3 kicked off, Microsoft came under fire for announcing intrusive, always-online DRM requirements and restrictions on used games for their new console, the Xbox One.
This, combined with a hefty $499 price reveal, left many frustrated and curious to see how Sony would respond. And boy, they responded with sledgehammer force.
Sony's presser a few days later saw Jack Tretton confirm the PS4 wouldn't be launching with any intrusive DRM features, and players were free to do whatever they wanted with the games they purchased.
To hammer the point home, Sony then aired a video of Shuhei Yoshida and Adam Boyes "demonstrating" how to share games on PS4 - that is, just hand the game to your friend.
The video quickly went viral and certainly helped give the PS4 a colossal PR lead over the Xbox One from the jump - a chasm which Microsoft is still struggling to close almost a whole decade later.
Oh, and that $399 launch price probably didn't hurt either.
