4. Metroid Fusion

Metroid Fusion is amazing. Whilst it's not as good as its predecessor Super Metroid (little is), Fusion manages to be a game worthy of the Metroid 4 status.

After getting infected by the X Parasite, Samus gets cured by cells from that lil' baby metroid she rescued in Metroid II: Return of Samus, which makes her part metroid, truly she became what she vowed to destroy.

The X Parasite has managed to mimic Samus however, creating SA-X, an evil entity who will stalk you throughout the game. Yeah, Metroid Fusion manages to be a compellingly creepy horror game which I didn't think was even possible on the GBA until I played this.

The story is actually a focus here unlike previous titles in the series which barely touched it. This leads to Metroid Fusion feeling more linear than other entries as it's easiest to tell a compelling story in a linear game, the gameplay is so good though that the linearity is barely a problem.

It also has some of the most refined gameplay in the entire series, taking what worked from Super Metroid and giving you even more.

Now if only Nintendo would make Metroid Fusion readily available before its sequel Metroid Dread comes out.
