4. Metroid Prime
NintendoWhen Nintendo resurrects a beloved 2D side-scroller and turns it into a first-person shooter, you know you're in for something special. Yet few could have predicted how brilliant Retro Studios first Metroid effort would have been. Rarely in a game have you felt so isolated, tense and completely alone as you would. The Metroidvania type of progressive gameplay was a perfect fit for a first person perspective, and the meld of back-tracking, puzzle solving and precision shooting still hasn't been bettered on any console to this day. Truly the original first-person adventure game, and one of the most jaw-droppingly original titles seen on the Gamecube - and pretty much any other console for that matter. Without a doubt one of the Gamecube's best titles, and one that still has the ability to wow to this day.
