20 Best Nintendo DS Games Of All Time
4. The World Ends With You
Taking place in a hyper-stylised version of Shibuya, starring Neku Sakuraba, a kid who dresses up weird even for a world where everybody dresses weirdly, The World Ends with You is the best JRPG on the Nintendo DS.
The story centres on the Reapers' Game, a game where those who died can participate to be rewarded in the afterlife or even be given a second chance at life. Neku and his partner must team up to beat each day's mission within the Reapers' Game.
I'm not going to spoil anything because the plot goes places and it's a story worth experiencing for yourself. It's also ridiculously complex so keep a notepad on hand, it's so obvious that Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura worked on this.
The gameplay is super interesting as you control both Neku and his partner simultaneously, each on a different screen. This might sound complex but you'll quickly learn how to do it and if not you can always have the computer assist you.
The World Ends with You is uniquely its own thing and words can't do it justice, just play this game, you still have a bit of time before the sequel comes out.
